How many lessons will I need to pass my test?
There is no set number of hours you will need to have before you are ready to pass your test. Everyone learns at different paces and some will take longer than others depending on the progression they make on each lesson. The DVSA do say that the average is approximately 40-45 hours of professional tuition along with approximately 20 hours of private practice to be ready for your test. This is just an average and you shouldn’t put yourself under pressure to pass your test within this time. Go at your own pace and take your test when you are ready!
Should I learn in manual or automatic?
This is down to personal preference and there is no rules on what you should learn in however one thing to bare in mind is that if you pass in a manual vehicle, you can then drive both manual and automatic. If you pass in an automatic vehicle you are then restricted to automatic vehicles only and will need to pass a manual test if you want to drive a manual in the future.
Can I make specific requests in relation to the instructor I will be assigned?
You can make requests in relation to specifics that will make you more comfortable on your lessons however please note requesting specifics may result in a longer wait for lessons whilst we find an instructor that matches your request.
Can I learn to drive in my own car?
Yes. Some people feel more comfortable learning in their own vehicle however, we do ask that at least your 1st lesson with your instructor is done in their car. This is so they can see the level that you are at and that it will be safe for you to learn in your own car.
How long are lessons with PNG?
2 hours minimum.
Why can’t I have 1-hour lessons with PNG?
1-hour lessons are not as productive as 2-hour lessons. On every lesson you do a briefing at the start and a debriefing at the end which in total should last around 15-20 minutes in total. This is time out of each lesson where you and your instructor will set the expectations for the lesson and reflect on the progress made. If you are taking 1-hour lessons, you will be having double the number of briefings and debriefings you would have during the course of your lessons if you had done 2-hour lesson meaning a lot more lost driving time. Also, there is a benefit time wise. If you do one lesson a week and take approx. 40 hours to get up to test standard this would take 40 weeks as opposed to 20 weeks if you were doing 2-hour lessons. Finally, there is very little you can learn in a 1-hour lesson, and you can be more prone to forgetting the things you have learnt from week to week
What is an assessment lesson?
This is a 2 hour session where your instructor will assess your driving ability and make recommendations on the number of hours that they think you will need to get you to test standard. Please be aware, this is only a recommendation and the number of hours taken or needed may differ depending on the learning pace.

We offer a range of courses depending on the experience you already have. We would book your driving test first and then lessons are arranged to be done over 1-4 weeks in the run up to your driving test
How do I pick the right intensive course for me?
We work on the average of 40 hours experience. If you had 20 hours of recent experience you would most likely suit a 20-hour intensive course, 10 hours of recent experience and a 30-hour course would likely suit, and so on. As everyone learns at different paces, we always suggest that if you have prior experience that you have an assessment lesson to ensure the course you have picked is the one that is best suited for you.
Do I need to pass my theory test before I can book my intensive course?
No. You can include your theory test booking in your intensive course. Your driving test cannot be booked until your theory test is passed so time scales may differ.
