Driving tests update >

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, tests have been put on hold since March but restarted on the 22nd of July in England. For Wales, they will resume from the 17th of August and Scotland is still yet to confirm the date.

Within the past 4 weeks the DVSA has rescheduled tests for an estimate of 146,000 learners. At this rate, the backlog may possibly be cleared by October or possibly September, but nothing has been confirmed. Once the DVSA clear the backlog, they will announce when their online booking system will open for learners who have not had a test prior to lockdown and also those who have recently failed and want to retake.

The DVSA has stopped new applications for emergency theory and driving tests for critical workers (14th of August). If you have applied for an emergency driving test, the DVSA will email you with a link to book your driving test. Anyone can now book a theory test on the DVSA website.
